Rafting in Trishuli

GIHE, Department of ECA organized 2 days and 1 night Rafting Trip in Trishuli River for the students of 10+2 as a part of their extracurricular activities on the 2nd and 3rd of December, 2011. Fifty four students were accompanied by four teachers in the entire trip. It was the first experience for almost everyone in the trip and was an unforgettable one.
On the first day the entire group boarded the bus and set for Kurintar at around 7:45 a.m. in the morning and stopped near Kurintar for breakfast at the Motel ‘Blue Heaven’. The whole group was divided into 3 Crews, namely Crew A, Crew B and Crew C. Rishi Kesh Bhandari was appointed as the Crew Incharge of Crew A, Ashna Theeng of Crew B and Sunil Kumar Thapa of Crew C. The entire trip was organized in the supervision of Trip Coordinator, Rajan K. Rai. After 15 minutes drive, the crews reached the starting point of rafting at the bank of Trishuli river in Kurintar. The Rafting Chief Instructor briefed on the safety measures to be taken while rafting. 7 rafting boats along with kayaking rescuers were already geared up to punch the Trishuli. All the 58 rafting crew members were divided in to 7 groups for 7 boats; Everyone put on the safety gears and started to sail. First few laps were smooth and easy but after almost 20 minutes sail, the entire group started to face roller coaster ride as they came across many tides, off sets and rapid water current. Everyone in the trip could feel the thrill and adventure very close to their heart and brain. Some of them even jumped in to the river and swam when the guide gestured that it was a safe zone to have swim in, if they want. After 3 hours long high and low tides they reached a place called Fishling where they halted for a mid day lunch and a quick rest. The group started off again for another 1 and half hour raft and pulled over for overnight camping stay at the riverside over the sandy beach. The tents were already fixed. There, the crews had coffee, tea and the puffy hot pop corn. The evening was followed by camp fire, hot chicken mushroom soup, chicken barbeque, singing, dancing, antakshyari and a huge splendid dinner.
On the second day, everyone woke up at around 7:30 with the morning tea and coffee. A Friendly Beach Football Match was arranged between class 11 and 12 students right after the morning tea. Heavy Breakfast was served at around 9:00 a.m. And the entire troop set again for the 3rd and last stage rafting. The boats did not stop until they hit the point where Trishuli merges with Marsyangdi River in Mugling, the final destination, where the rafting ended. Every member of the rafting crew looked tired but content and satisfied that finally they conquered Trishuli. There was no serious injury since every member of the crew sincerely followed the instructions given by the instructors, guides and the rescuers.
It was because of a sound coordination among the Rafting Instructors, Team Leaders, Crew Incharges and Event Coordinator that the trip was a huge success with a lot of thrills and adventures but not any serious injury and of course the credit is equally shared with the entire students of GIHE 10+2, who cooperated very sincerely in the intact trip.
