Hostel Regulations

CHANGE OF STATUS

The change of status from boarders to day-scholars is not permitted throughout students' schooling at GEMS. The school has the policy that initial intake status either residential or non-residential cannot be changed under any circumstances. If it is quite impossible for students to continue their studies as boarders for whatsoever reasons, the school will issue a transfer certificate (TC) to such students.
However, the change of status (boarder to day-scholar) may be granted temporarily for a maximum period of three months for genuine medical cases for which parents must pay full boarding fees except for food.


POCKET MONEY

Parents who wish to send pocket money to their ward(s) in the hostel may do so through the accounts section only. Giving money directly to the children or to any other members of the staff is prohibited. The children can spend their money under the supervision of the hostel wing in-charge only. The total pocket money should not exceed Rs.200/- (Rupees Two hundred only) per month.


TUCK PARCELS

Tuck parcels of only dry eatables should be handed over to the hostel wing in-charge. Pickles, cooked food and curry, over-ripe fruits are not allowed. In order to teach the children the joy of sharing and sociability, tuck parcels of all boarders are evenly distributed among all the children, every evening, during games time.


PRIVATE TUITION

Private tuition is discouraged. However, private tuition may be arranged for boarders who are academically very week, for which extra fees will be charged.

OUTINGS

Generally, boarders are allowed to go home for a month-end-outing on the last Friday of each Nepali month, if stated in the school calendar, with escorts approved by the parents only, and must return on the day and time mentioned in the calendar. Apart from this, boarders may be taken home during terminal breaks, festival holidays and the winter vacation, as mentioned in the school calendar. Prior notice is to be submitted to the principal/ hostel manager in case the student needs to go home for some important business.
